Volleyball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. La Jolla Vikings

The Clairemont Chieftains will venture away from home to face off against the La Jolla Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Clairemont came up short against Cathedral Catholic and fell 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 25-17.

Meanwhile, La Jolla also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Francis Parker by a score of 3-1. The Vikings have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19.

Clairemont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-7 record this season. As for La Jolla, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Clairemont skirted past La Jolla 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Chieftains repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
