Basketball Recap: Southwest Onslow's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Southwest Onslow needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Oriyanna Galloway. Everything went the Southwest Onslow Stallions' way against the Richlands Wildcats on Friday as the Southwest Onslow Stallions made off with a 54-28 win thanks in part to Galloway, who went 9 for 16 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Southwest Onslow's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Dollar, who posted seven points along with 12 boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Southwest Onslow picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Richlands, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Onslow will take on White Oak in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Onslow has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Richlands, they will venture away from home to square off against Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
