Sagamore Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Rolando Castillo Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Starting off the list is Frankfort's Rolando Castillo, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Castillo made eight total tackles and defended three passes, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles and defending three passes.

If history really does repeat itself, Castillo might just drop another big game when he faces off against North Montgomery on Friday. Castillo made 14 total tackles and defended a pass the last time he and the Chargin' Chargers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Walden Came Up Big in Tri-West Hendricks' 70-0 Victory

Malachi Walden helped snap Tri-West Hendricks's three-game losing streak. Walden was dynamite on Friday, throwing for 95 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing, while also rushing for 53 yards on only six carries. Tri-West Hendricks is 2-1 when Walden posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

North Montgomery's probably not too fond of Walden given he always seems to get the better of them. When Walden last faced the Chargin' Chargers back in October of 2023, he rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.

A Season-Best Performance from Derek Reid Leads Tri-West Hendricks over North Montgomery

Tri-West Hendricks was led to victory by Derek Reid, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Reid rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
