Softball Recap: Tuscarora Beats Millbrook for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Tuscarora waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Millbrook Pioneers by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 back in April.

Anna Hurst made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Wools, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Brileigh Bass was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Tuscarora pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Millbrook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuscarora will square off against Loudoun Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Millbrook, they will take on James Wood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
