Soccer Game Preview: Springfield vs. Greenbrier

The Springfield Yellow Jackets will challenge the Greenbrier Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Springfield's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portland on Thursday. One reason for the loss might be the Yellow Jackets' aggressive play style: three Springfield players were handed yellow cards.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier managed to keep up with Goodpasture Christian until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Greenbrier lost 4-1 to Goodpasture Christian. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Greenbrier's goal came courtesy of Anthony Caceros, which was the first he's scored this season.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Greenbrier, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Springfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenbrier when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Greenbrier have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
