Baseball Recap: Floresville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Floresville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Pearsall Mavericks get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Tigers/Jaguars have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Bryan Cardenas's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmett Nettles, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jacob Guevara was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Floresville's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Pearsall, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Coincidentally, Floresville and Pearsall will both be playing Uvalde the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will host the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers/Jaguars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
