Greyson Kines and Jaishawn Woods secure win for South Point

Recap: South Point Red Raiders vs. North Gaston Wildcats

Even though the North Gaston Wildcats scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, the South Point Red Raiders still came out on top. South Point put the hurt on North Gaston with a sharp 83-63 win. That looming 83-63 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Point yet this season.

Leading South Point to victory were Greyson Kines and Jaishawn Woods. Kines scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Woods scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

North Gaston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markell Carothers, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Carothers has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Jurnee Lattimore was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.

South Point is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for North Gaston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

South Point will head out on the road to square off against Ashbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ashbrook is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for North Gaston, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Huss at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Huss' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
