Baseball Game Preview: Wren Hurricanes vs. Westside Rams

For the second straight game, Wren will face off against Westside. The Hurricanes will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Rams at 6:30 p.m.

Wren came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to Westside. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hurricanes have suffered since April 18, 2024.

For Westside's part, Tyler Scott made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Scott has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Westside: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Holmes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Herndon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win was the third in a row for Westside, bringing their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wren, they dropped their record down to 10-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
