Baseball Recap: Hesperia Christian Comes Up Short

Hesperia Christian lost against Riverside Prep last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Patriots might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-1 to the Silver Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathaniel Renner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Hesperia Christian is 2-1 when Renner posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise.

Hesperia Christian now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Riverside Prep, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hesperia Christian will challenge University Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Riverside Prep, they will take on Rancho Cucamonga at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Silver Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
