Baseball Recap: Valley Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Miller last Tuesday, Valley Christian came back down to earth. Valley Christian fell just short of the West Covina Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The Defenders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Josh Hulse was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Valley Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Douglas, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Valley Christian now has a losing record of 7-8. As for West Covina, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Looking ahead, Valley Christian will challenge Village Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley Christian 3.3, Village Christian 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for West Covina, they will square off against Northview at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so West Covina's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
