Football Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Evansville North Huskies

Floyd Central has won four straight games at home, while Evansville North has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Highlanders will welcome the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Floyd Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Castle 49-14.

Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Evansville North prevailed. They really took it to New Albany for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.

Evansville North's win came from a few key players Floyd Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Quaithan Pauley, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter McKinney, who rushed for 103 yards and two scores on only 11 carries.

Evansville North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Evansville North's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Floyd Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Floyd Central came up short against Evansville North in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, falling 28-20. Thankfully for the Highlanders, Sam Mckinney (who rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 119 yards and one TD while completing 81.8% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
