Basketball Recap: Northern Michigan Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Calvary Baptist Academy last Friday, Northern Michigan Christian came back down to earth. The Northern Michigan Christian Comets had to suffer through a 74-33 loss at the hands of the Pine River Area Bucks. The Comets lost against the Bucks in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 41-25 score last time.

Mason Gugle was nothing short of spectacular for Pine River Area: he went 9 of 15 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Holmquist, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Northern Michigan Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Pine River Area, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Michigan Christian will take on Beal City at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pine River Area, they will face off against Houghton Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
