Softball Recap: Colusa's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Colusa's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Truckee Wolverines by a score of 8-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the RedHawks have won 15 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elli Santana, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addison Lay, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Colusa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Truckee only posted a batting average of .000.

Colusa moved to 16-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Truckee, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Coming up, Colusa will challenge East Nicolaus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the RedHawks 2.7, the Spartans 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Truckee, they are taking a road trip to face off against North Valleys at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games.
