Baseball Recap: Los Lunas Gets the Win

Los Lunas proved they can win big last Friday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls 10-9. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Cavemen/Cavegirls two weeks ago, they had to take a 9-5 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Jasiah Byers, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. Cruz Romero also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Los Lunas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Los Lunas now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Carlsbad, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.

Coming up, Los Lunas will be taking part in a tournament against Rio Grande at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Carlsbad, they will host Da Vinci at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
