Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Casteel

Casteel's tournament run continued when they took on Rancho on Thursday. The Casteel Colts snuck past the Rancho Rams with a 66-62 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Colts' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 71st in Arizona, while the Rams are ranked 14th in Nevada).

Casteel now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rancho, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-3.

Casteel will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Rancho, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Prestonwood Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Prestonwood Christian likes a good challenge.
