Basketball Recap: Jenna Mcgath's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly over Nokomis

If New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly was riding high fresh off their 64-24 takedown of Bunker Hill last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers took a hard 45-29 fall against the Nokomis Redskins on Monday. The Vipers haven't had much luck with the Redskins recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Vipers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna McGath, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacee Alexander, who had four points and four steals.

Nokomis was led to victory by Natalie Brownback and Alivia Sabol. Brownback earned 16 points, while Sabol dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sabol is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinley Stolte, who scored six points and seven boards.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 20-10. As for Nokomis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly has already played their next game, a 43-40 defeat against Illini West on the 15th. As for Nokomis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-52 win against North Mac on the 13th.
