Volleyball Recap: Casteel Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Perry

Casteel faced Perry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Colts took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pumas. The loss continues a trend for the Colts in their meetings with the Pumas: they've now lost five in a row.

Casteel couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Perry a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 28-30, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Casteel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Will Schneiderman had 22 digs and six assists. Schneiderman has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times he's played.

Perry can attribute much of their success to Brady Breinholt, who had 16 digs and eight assists. Those eight assists gave Breinholt a new career-high. Kenton Leon also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Casteel's loss dropped their record down to 19-10-1. As for Perry, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-3.

Casteel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Shadow Ridge on the 8th. As for Perry, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Hamilton on the 8th.
