Preview: Success Unlimited Academy MUSTANGS vs. Tabernacle Torches
Success Unlimited Academy is 0-3 against Tabernacle since November of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Success Unlimited Academy MUSTANGS's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Tabernacle Torches at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Success Unlimited Academy posted their biggest win since November 16, 2023 on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over IMG Academy. The victory was all the more spectacular given Success Unlimited Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 218th in Alabama, while IMG Academy is ranked 39th in Florida).
Success Unlimited Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nakai Depina led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Depina is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Timmorian Williams, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Tabernacle entered their tilt with Pineview Christian with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Tabernacle blew past Pineview Christian 42-21.
Success Unlimited Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Tabernacle, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Success Unlimited Academy came up short against Tabernacle when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 84-76. Can Success Unlimited Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
