Basketball Game Preview: Harvard Cardinals vs. Deshler Dragons

Harvard is 2-8 against Deshler since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Harvard Cardinals will host the Deshler Dragons at 6:30 p.m.

Harvard is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 34th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 49-10 loss at the hands of Blue Hill. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Deshler won against McCool Junction on Friday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Deshler took their game with ease, bagging a 53-25 victory over Lawrence-Nelson. That 28 point margin sets a new team best for the Dragons this season.

The win was the third in a row for Deshler, bringing their record for this year to 7-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Harvard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Harvard was taken down by Deshler 75-8 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harvard was down 47-6.
