Recap: Brawley Wildcats vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines
On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Brawley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Aliso Niguel. While losing is never fun, Brawley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 709th, while Aliso Niguel is ranked 162nd).
Despite the loss, Brawley still got an impressive performance from Domanic Vallejo, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The match was Vallejo's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ethan Flores was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Brawley and nudges their season record down to 6-7. As for Aliso Niguel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Brawley will finish 2023 at home by hosting La Quinta at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Quinta is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Aliso Niguel won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Twentynine Palms at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
