Softball Game Preview: Pine Raiders vs. Sumner Cowboys

The Pine Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Sumner Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pine was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklinton, sneaking past 4-3.

Meanwhile, Sumner never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Salmen with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won 19 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Pine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Sumner's win bumped their record up to 20-4.

Everything went Pine's way against Sumner in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Pine made off with a 17-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
