La Mirada had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Downey Vikings 17-6. Considering the Matadores have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

La Mirada got a massive performance out of Win Gurney, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-4. Those seven RBI gave Gurney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Travis Friend, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

La Mirada's record now sits at 14-2. As for Downey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

Coming up, La Mirada will take on Venice in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Matadores 2.9, the Indians 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Downey, they will host Gahr at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
