University Prep Academy and Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but not for long. The Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (University Prep Academy has five straight victories, Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Two weeks ago, University Prep Academy made easy work of El Primero and carried off a 3-0 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Nguyen, who had 33 digs and two aces. Nguyen is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 13 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taran Kollu, who had eight digs and one block.
Nguyen wasn't the only good server: University Prep Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit lost 3-0 to KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Monday.
Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-19.
Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for University Prep Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
University Prep Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
