Basketball Game Preview: Timnath Cubs vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

The Timnath Cubs will head out to take on the Thompson Valley Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Timnath will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Saturday, everything went Timnath's way against Loveland as Timnath made off with a 56-36 win. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Thompson Valley entered their tilt with Berthoud on Thursday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 46-32 victory over the Spartans.

Thompson Valley's win came from a few key players Timnath will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Avery Gibbs, who went 5-for-6 en route to 10 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (83%). Penny Gilbert was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

Timnath pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points over those games. As for Thompson Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Timnath was able to grind out a solid win over Thompson Valley in their previous matchup back in January, winning 53-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Timnath since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
