Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. Del Norte

Poway and Del Norte are an even 3-3-4 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Poway Titans will face off against the Del Norte Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Poway fell victim to San Pasqual and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles. The Titans have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Del Norte put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came out on top against Rancho Bernardo by a score of 3-1. Given the Nighthawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Broncos are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Having lost for the first time this season, Poway fell to 9-1-2. As for Del Norte, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0-2.

Poway took their win against Del Norte when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. Does Poway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Del Norte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
