Recap: Ness City Eagles vs. LaCrosse Leopards
This season hasn't been kind to The Ness City Eagles, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They took a serious blow against LaCrosse on Friday, falling 46-0. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, Ness City couldn't push the score so high this time.
LaCrosse was led to victory by Gage Burk and Caden Morgan. Burk gained 126 total yards and three touchdowns, while Morgan threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Bradan Grumbein did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Ness City's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Victoria and 9-2 Meade (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66% over those games). As for LaCrosse, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Ness City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. LaCrosse will be playing in front of their home fans against Sublette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Sublette is ranked 39th, while LaCrosse is ranked 46th).
