Basketball Recap: Freire Charter Comes Up Short

Freire Charter lost to Franklin Towne back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dragons were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Warriors. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Franklin Towne found their leader in sophomore Louie Marchino, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 17 points and five boards. The contest was Marchino's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carlo Quattrone, who posted seven points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Freire Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Franklin Towne, their record now sits at 10-5.

Coming up, Freire Charter will face off against Strawberry Mansion at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.78 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Franklin Towne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maritime Academy Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
