Recap: Spring Grove Rockets vs. Northeastern Bobcats
Spring Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Northeastern Bobcats by a score of 6-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Spring Grove of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.
Tanner Hoffman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Shaffer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with an RBI.
On Northeastern's side, Brandon Charleston was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Derek Gross was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Spring Grove's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-3. As for Northeastern, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Grove will challenge Dallastown at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to square off against South Western at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern and South Western are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
