Softball Recap: Canon-Mcmillan's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Canon-McMillan lost to Norwin back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. Canon-McMillan came out on top against Norwin by a score of 4-1. The game was the first time the Big Macs have beaten the Knights on their field since May 26, 2021.

Brooke Bumer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Canon-McMillan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harley Tournay, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Kadence Merigo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Canon-McMillan's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Norwin, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Canon-McMillan will square off against rival North Allegheny at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Norwin is set to challenge their familiar foe Butler at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
