Baseball Recap: Happy Valley's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Happy Valley barely beat Tri-Cities Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Eagles 17-5 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Fermin Carrillo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Grady Goulds was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Drew Blevins, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The win was the third in a row for Happy Valley, bringing their record up to 8-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Tri-Cities Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Happy Valley will take on Chuckey-Doak at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tri-Cities Christian, they will square off against Cocke County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
