Softball Recap: Tampa Catholic Beats Buchholz for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Tampa Catholic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Buchholz on Friday. The Tampa Catholic Crusaders blew past the Buchholz Bobcats 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Lamia, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Haywood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Tampa Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buchholz struck out six times.

The win was the fourth in a row for Tampa Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Buchholz, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tampa Catholic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. The timing is sure in Calvary Christian's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Tampa Catholic has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Buchholz will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against P.K. Yonge at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
