Lewis County and Rowan County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lions will be playing at home against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Lewis County beats Rowan County with seven runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Lions walked away with a 7-3 win over Bath County on Tuesday. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Rowan County entered their tilt with George Rogers Clark on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since June 5, 2025.

Kassi Perkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Perkins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauryn Eastham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Howard, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Rowan County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
