Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Vance County). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the East Wake Warriors 48-19. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Vipers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

 Zion Thornton was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 90 yards and one  touchdown on only eight carries. Those  90  rushing yards gave  him a new career-high.
 Vance County didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited East Wake to a completion percentage of just 47.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from six players:  Harry Cheek,  Tyzek Bryant,  Ayden Jones,  Tyler Wheeler,  Jamari Freeman,  and  Andre Perry, who each logged one passes deflected. Vance County wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 100%.
 Despite the  loss, East Wake had strong showings from  Jaiveon Johnson, who threw for 208 yards and three  TDs, and  Dylan Kiser, who picked up 66 receiving yards and a pair of  scores.
Vance County's  victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for East Wake,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 3-6.
