Softball Recap: Catholic Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Catholic Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wellsville Tigers 14-13. This was a revenge game for the Crusaders: when they faced off against the Tigers last Friday, they had to take a 20-19 loss.

Grace Fink was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Genna Free, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Catholic Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .487. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Catholic Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-16. As for Wellsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Catholic Central will challenge Buckeye Local at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wellsville, they will face off against United at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
