Baseball Game Preview: Waterville Panthers vs. Oceanside Mariners

The Waterville Panthers will challenge the Oceanside Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Waterville nor Oceanside posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Waterville's offense. They lost 8-0 to Cony on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Waterville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Gendreau, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. Jacoby Sirois also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Oceanside suffered their closest loss since May 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lawrence by a score of 3-1.

Oceanside has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Waterville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
