Baseball Recap: Widefield Finds Home Field Redemption Against Littleton

There's no place like home for Widefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Littleton Lions on Saturday.

The result came thanks to Zak Kawakami's shutout, as he gave up just four hits.

At the plate, Widefield let Ethan Braun and Nick Prantl run wild. Braun went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Prantl scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three hits gave Braun a new career-high. Zane Cleaton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Widefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Littleton only posted an OBP of .222.

Widefield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Littleton, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Widefield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 19-3 defeat against Pueblo East on the 18th. As for Littleton, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against Discovery Canyon on the 20th.
