Preview: DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors vs. Kent Denver Sun Devils
The DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kent Denver Sun Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
DSST: Green Valley Ranch suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Manual by a score of 55-52. It was the first time this season that DSST: Green Valley Ranch let down their fans at home.
Tong Bot put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shalom Abioye, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Even though they lost, DSST: Green Valley Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manual only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kent Denver unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Colorado Academy 80-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (74), Kent Denver still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Clay Tierney, who scored 14 points. Caleb Fay was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
DSST: Green Valley Ranch's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Kent Denver, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. DSST: Green Valley Ranch hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62 points per game. However, it's not like Kent Denver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 84.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
DSST: Green Valley Ranch suffered a grim 89-69 defeat to Kent Denver in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point DSST: Green Valley Ranch was down 48-25.
