Baseball Game Preview: James F. Byrnes Rebels vs. Riverside Warriors

The James F. Byrnes Rebels will challenge the Riverside Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. James F. Byrnes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

James F. Byrnes will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Dorman last Friday. The Rebels came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 10-7. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Landon Hulehan and Connor Crenshaw did most of the damage at the plate: Hulehan went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Crenshaw went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Hulehan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Collins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Riverside entered their tilt with Wade Hampton on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Generals. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.

James F. Byrnes has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

James F. Byrnes came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverside when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
