Basketball Preview: Irondequoit Eagles vs. Fairport Red Raiders
The Irondequoit Eagles will be playing at home against the Fairport Red Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Irondequoit made easy work of the Spartans and carried off a 70-46 victory. Given Irondequoit's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Spartans are ranked 564th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fairport had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over McQuaid Jesuit.
Irondequoit is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Fairport, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Everything went Irondequoit's way against the Red Raiders when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the Eagles made off with a 57-36 victory. Will Irondequoit repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
