Softball Recap: Lemoore Starts Season with Victory Against Sunnyside

Lemoore gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Sunnyside Wildcats with a sharp 18-8 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lemoore let Maddie Bivens and Natalie Silva run wild. Bivens scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Silva scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Kierra Deleon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lemoore will challenge Sanger at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sunnyside, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunnyside is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
