Softball Preview: Latexo Tigers vs. Centerville Tigers
Latexo and Centerville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Latexo Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Centerville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Latexo will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Latexo can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match last Thursday. They never let Grapeland onto the board and left with an 11-0 win. Latexo's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Meanwhile, Centerville made easy work of Oakwood on Friday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The win was just what Centerville needed coming off of a 13-7 defeat in their prior matchup.
Casey Brent was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also only allowed one walk). Brent was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
In other batting news, Morgan Brooke was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kameron Denman was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Latexo is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9-2 record this season. As for Centerville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
