Basketball Recap: Wayne Christian Comes Up Short

Wayne Christian managed to keep up with Coastal Christian until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wayne Christian Eagles came up short against the Coastal Christian Centurions, falling 65-43. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centurions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Coastal Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thomas Hughes, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Hughes a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was George Robertson, who had 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Wayne Christian and nudges their season record down to 4-10. As for Coastal Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne Christian will head out to challenge Wayne Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Wayne Christian likes a good challenge. As for Coastal Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
