Softball Recap: Kingsford Comes Up Short

Kingsford extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-6 in the process. They lost 6-0 to the Gladstone Braves. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Flivvers were not able to get on the board.

As for Gladstone, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 12-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.1 runs this season.

For Gladstone's part, Kingsford's batters probably weren't too happy with Tia Schone, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Schone has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Sundquist, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last six games. Another player making a difference was Maddie Sundquist, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Kingsford is set to face off against their familiar foe Escanaba at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gladstone will square off against rival Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
