Basketball Recap: Minneola Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Minneola faced off against Pawnee Heights on Friday. The Minneola Wildcats came up short against the Pawnee Heights Tigers, falling 58-38. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Minneola still got an impressive performance from Braegen Shelor, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Shelor a new career-high in shooting accuracy (62%). Raena Temaat was another key player, putting up two points and seven boards.

Minneola has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Pawnee Heights, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minneola will head out to face off against Ashland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pawnee Heights, they will challenge Chase on Tuesday. Pawnee Heights is facing Chase at the right time seeing as Chase is stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
