Basketball Game Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Ramona Bulldogs

Olympian has won five straight games at home, while Ramona has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Olympian Eagles will host the Ramona Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Olympian strolled past Monte Vista with points to spare, taking the game 82-67. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Olympian can attribute much of their success to Sammell Humphries, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Tristan Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walker, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Ramona blew past Escondido, posting an 87-41 win.

Ramona had a senior duo take command as Colin Dillon went 12-for-25 to rack up 35 points along with five boards and three steals and Daniel Penner made all 10 shots he took racking up 26 points in addition to six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dillon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Gwyn, who posted six points.

Ramona is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games. As for Olympian, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.

Things could have been worse for Olympian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-56 loss to Ramona in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Olympian, Chase Newman (who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
