Volleyball Recap: Yucca Valley Takes a Loss

Yucca Valley lost against Coachella Valley last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trojans fell 3-1 to the Mighty Arabs. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mighty Arabs 25-16 in the first set.

Yucca Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-19.

Coachella Valley was led to victory by Makayla Rivera and Giada Lopez. Rivera had 21 digs, while Lopez had seven aces. Those seven aces gave Lopez a new career-high.

Yucca Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-5 Indio (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.3% over those games). As for Coachella Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Yucca Valley has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Twentynine Palms on the 30th. As for Coachella Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Indio on the 30th.
