Basketball Recap: Hillsborough Comes Up Short

Hillsborough was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-41 loss at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Terriers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 689th, while the Wildcats are ranked 121st).

Wharton was led to victory by Tysen Jefferson and Nick Womack. Jefferson made all 7 shots he took for 17 points and five steals, while Womack went 6 for 7 en route to 14 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Jefferson a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Korpi, who posted nine points and five assists.

Hillsborough's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Wharton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Hillsborough will challenge Lennard at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lennard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. Wharton has already played their next match, a 64-37 victory against Sumner on the 15th.
