Basketball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. Wethersfield Eagles

Maloney and Wethersfield are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Maloney Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Wethersfield Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Maloney was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-51 to Harding. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-28, which was the final score in Wethersfield's tilt against Glastonbury on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Guardians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Wethersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Maloney, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 3-2.

Maloney was able to grind out a solid win over Wethersfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 77-65. Will Maloney repeat their success, or does Wethersfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
