Football Game Preview: Windsor Warriors vs. Masuk Panthers

Windsor is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Masuk is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Windsor Warriors will welcome the Masuk Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Windsor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They never let Newington onto the board and left with a 50-0 win. Windsor's victory was all the more impressive since the Nor'easters were averaging only 9.75 points allowed on the season.

It was another big night for John Manning, who rushed for 258 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 69 yards.

Manning was just one part of a punishing run game: Windsor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October.

Meanwhile, Masuk won against Torrington last Tuesday with 41 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Sunday. Masuk breezed by Bunnell to the tune of 41-13.

Windsor better keep an eye on Gavin Walker. He was instrumental in Masuk's win, rushing for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 98 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 166 rushing yards gave Walker a new career-high. Shane Walker also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.

Masuk wouldn't let Bunnell keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Luke Longo was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. Aidan Diaz was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making six total tackles.

Windsor's record is now 12-0. As for Masuk, their record is now 9-3.

Windsor barely slipped by Masuk in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, winning 28-27. Will Windsor repeat their success, or does Masuk have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
