Softball Recap: Santa Clara Find Success

After only one run in their last matchup, Santa Clara made sure to put some runs up on the board against South San Francisco on Wednesday. Everything went the Santa Clara Bruins' way against the South San Francisco Warriors as the Santa Clara Bruins made off with a 19-8 win. The Bruins have beaten the Warriors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Rylan Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Morales was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Marley Hernandez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Jordyn Guzman, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Santa Clara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South San Francisco only managed ten hits.

Santa Clara's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South San Francisco, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Santa Clara wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-5 win against Monte Vista Christian on the 7th. As for South San Francisco, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-2 victory against Design Tech on the 7th.
